DREHTAINER was founded in Hamburg in 1974 as a company for repairing containers. We have been developing and manufacturing special containers for defence and nuclear technology as well as applications for industry since 1982. The company moved to its current location in Valluhn, on the state border between Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein, at the start of the 2000s.
Our product portfolio in the field of defence technology includes protected and unprotected infrastructure, solutions for operating base protection and command posts, as well as various types of containers for special applications. The unique, modular system is something that makes our containers stand out. It allows the containers to be coupled with each other, making it possible to erect small spatial units as well as complete buildings. The level of protection can be adjusted to suit the respective requirements by means of integration and/or adaptation for individual containers or for complete buildings (tested and certified in accordance with STANAG 2280 or 4569).
We possess extensive expertise in implementing protection concepts across all products. Numerous tests in military technical offices and similar facilities as well as institutes of international customers have confirmed the capability of DREHTAINER. Our expertise has meant that DREHTAINER containers have already saved the lives of soldiers working or housed in them on many occasions as a result of direct missile hits.
Over recent years, command post solutions in particular have developed into a major product line for DREHTAINER. They have very specific requirements when it comes to protection due to their special use. In addition to protection against blast or ballistic threats, radiation safety plays a decisive role. We have become one of the leading providers of mobile command post solutions thanks to constantly evolving product developments and ever-growing customer requirements.
Civilian organisations and authorities as well as customers from industry are now also benefiting from our expertise in defence technology. Protected, modular buildings are used, for example, as inspection buildings in (petro)chemical plants or refineries and as office or accommodation buildings in crisis areas.
Applications for nuclear technology, be it lifting equipment, shielding containers or special containers, are designed and manufactured to meet the customer's specifications and the conditions of the respective Nuclear Safety Standards Commission. Special containers for transporting particularly large goods and other special solutions in the civilian sector round off DREHTAINER's production range.
New DREHTAINER developments undergo testing in the company's own testing centre. The testing centre includes a firing tunnel and a container test stand. Constructions from other manufacturers also undergo qualification on the container test stand in close cooperation with classification societies and expert organisations.
